Tribute to the Canadians in the Italian Campaign (1943 – 1945) - to the tune of "The Maple Leaf Forever"

In forty-three, the boys set sail, over the sea to Sicily.
Then to the mainland on they went, to the north of Italy.
A hard-fought fight with many deaths, the price for King and Country,
We come to pay them tribute now, Our brave Canadian soldiers.

Responding to the Empire's call we fought at Gallipoli.
At Beaumont Hamel, on July the First, our losses were horrific;
On Memorial Day we'll ne'er forget, the sacrifice of so many.
